212: Time

Time by design
a fickle master
one hour slow
the next much faster
no clock can control
the pace of each minute
my mind has no timekeeper
lodged within it.

Do emotions control time
as time controls me?
Do sad days linger
and happy days flee?
Does reality die
in the eyes of perception
while time flies by
in the arms of affection?

Sometimes, maybe

but then again no
I remember those moments
in the afterglow
when time stood still
and my soul expanded
entwined with yours,
time was enchanted.

Rejoice that our meandering paths have finally crossed
Revere the mystery of chance versus design
Revel in the perfect balance of our connection
Relish the future we will experience together
Respect time for shaping us this way
Nothing in life is a waste of time
It has made me yours, and made you mine
Regret nothing or you will undo what was created.

137: Under Pressure

Amazing things happen
When time is limited
All of a sudden
I become less inhibited.

I rush around madly
Getting things done
Some of my best work
Is done on the run.

Off to school
Then an hour on the bike
Eight at work
And then out for the night.

Next to a workshop
About writing, of course
Then catch up with a friend
And talk myself hoarse.

Home again late
With no poem to blog
Write something quick
No time to be lost.

Must get to bed
Haven’t packed yet, oh dear
Camping tomorrow
We’ll get there, no fear.

Throw it all in a bag
Before going to work
Plenty of time
Say I with a smirk.

If you gave me a week

I still wouldn’t be packed
Until the last minute

When I’m pushed to react.

Just like this poem
It’s an absolute miracle
I wrote it in five
And it’s really quite lyrical!

39: Not Old Today!

Sitting here,
on the floor.
Waiting, waiting,
nothing more.

Tick tock,
timer goes.
Time passing,
ever so slow.

What to do,
while you wait?
Sitting, sitting,
in this state.

Read a while,
play on phone.
Carefully, carefully,
mind the foam!

Sitting still,
don’t toss head.
Flick that dye,
you’ll regret!

Is it worth it,
to banish grey?
Oh hell yeah,
not old today!

15: Happy to Be

I watched the surf roll in with you,
the blue sky all around.
We laughed and chatted all breakfast through,
oblivious to the soothing sound.

A perfect way to start the day,
breakfast with a stunning view.
Nature’s splendour all around,
the sun, the surf, me and you.

We exist for a while in this timeless place,
happy to be, needing nothing more.
I’ll hold the memory of your handsome face
in this moment, beside the shore.
Don’t think ahead in time and space,
in this moment I need nothing more.

12: Finding Time

Rushing here, rushing there,
how many thing can I fit in one day?
The lawn wants mowing.
The weeds keep growing.
Mustn’t forget to cover that grey!

Driving here, driving there,
off to work then pick up at school.
Fit in the shopping.
Don’t think ‘bout stopping.
Remember the speed limit, follow the rule!

Looking here, looking there,
find that sock, locate that shoe.
Have a good look.
Neglect that book.
Haven’t I got enough things to do?

Remember this, remember that,
feed the dog, pick up a child.
Take your pills.
Pay those bills.
Don’t forget to have your hair styled!

Enjoy this, enjoy that,
your time with them is only borrowed.
Love every day,
they’re in your way.
They will move out, one sunny tomorrow!
