198: Choose Your Knickers Wisely!

What knickers to wear
for a cycling extravaganza
is an important decision to make.
Too long in the saddle
with the wrong sort of apparel
will leave you lying prostrate;
with your legs open wide
and a fan set on high
and an ice pack ready just in case!

No you daren’t make a mistake
with the undies you take
when perching on that saddle so narrow;
one slip and you’re done for
no sex for a week or more,
so have a care and choose wisely
for goodness sake!

155: Screaming

There is a certain type of scream
No child should every make
As a mother if you hear it
You are instantly awake.

Should I mind my own business
Or knock upon the door?
I cannot do the first
The second scares me more.

The frequent sounds of distress
Disturb me more each day
I cannot hear those children
And turn my heart away.

Who do I tell about this
What is the right thing to do?
Maybe nothing’s wrong
Yet I worry that’s not true.

I hope my fears are groundless
But I have to make that call
No child should make that sound
The one that’s coming through my wall.

130: Tough Love

I want you to go
But I want you to stay
How contrary am I
On this subject today?

I can’t make up my mind
I dither about
Looking at pros and cons
I wear myself out.

Sometimes I need you
It helps when you’re here
But then I can’t trust you
And that generates fear.

It’s no good me wishing
You were someone you’re not
You are who you are
The daughter I got.

I love you, I love you
But that’s not enough
You’ve pushed me too far
And now this is tough.

I’m not being heartless
I’m not being cruel
I want you to learn
And I’m nobody’s fool.

If you want that life
You can’t have it here
It saddens me to say it
And I’ll shed a few tears

But you have to leave
Hope you find somewhere near
The decision is final
The decision is clear.

Take responsibility for yourself
It’s an important step
I know you can do it
It just hasn’t happened yet.

Go out into the real world
Live, love and learn
Come back wiser
And my respect you will earn.

79: A Woman's Refrain

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Do I dress for me?
Do I dress for you?
If it’s what I want
Does is please you too?

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

I’m not on this planet
to entertain, but
If I like that you like it
Does that make me vain?

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Oh Heaven knows!
The question remains.
I’ll say it again.
It’s the woman’s refrain.

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Now why do I care?
That’s an interesting question.
Because my mood is declared
By my clothing expression.

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Am I happy and bold
As I walk out the door?
Or feeling tired and old
Can’t be bothered with more?

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

That’s it! I’m done
Too much psycho-analysis!
Choosing my clothes
Has ended in paralysis!

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Quick! Make a decision.
Is it comfort or style?
Well I’m driving today
So that’s comfort by a mile.

What shall I wear?
What shall I wear?

Grab that old cotton dress
My most comfortable shoes
Pull my hair off my face
Style you lose!
